RE: Partial Repayment of STOP Grant funds

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Authorization to amend the Sheriff's Office FY2024 budget to allow for repayment of $17,672.00 in grant funds to the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
BACKGROUND:
This amendment was necessary to repay disallowed costs related to the STOP grant. A monitoring visit was performed by the granting agency which found that the time and effort documentation on file for the hours worked on the grant was not detailed enough to adhere to the requirements of the grant.
DISCUSSION:
The Sheriff's Office has implemented a proper method of tracking in detail the hours worked on the grant and Fiscal Services will receive copies of these reports and agree them to payroll records in an effort to ensure there will be no future repayments.

This budget amendment conforms to the county priorities by allowing the Sheriff's Office to continuing their task force to investigate domestic violence and criminal sexual assaults.
