RE: Creating, posting and filling one (1) Secretary Position for Hearing & Vision
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to create, post and fill one (1) Secretary Position
BACKGROUND:
The hearing and vision program is requesting to establish and fill a secretary position to support the program function.
DISCUSSION:
The staff of the Health Department's Childhood Hearing and Vision Screening Program can provide over 40,000 hearing and vision screenings to pre-school and school age students annually. At present time we only document screenings in our EMR, EPIC, for those students receiving a referral letter. When the Hearing and Vision Program began using EPIC in 2022, it was established as a goal to document every screening provided in EPIC. The Secretary will assist with entering all hearing and vision screenings into EPIC, including the referrals, as well as mailing the referral letters. The Secretary will also assist with maintaining program supplies and scheduling screenings at the approximately 200 public, private, Head Start, and preschool locations throughout Genesee County. This support will allow the Health Technicians to focus more of their time on screening.
