RE: IDEXX Laboratories Change Order Request
.recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Please accept this memorandum as a request to increase the current Purchase Order #23-04317 to Vendor IDEXX Laboratories from $40,000.00 to $60,000.00. to remit payment for balance of the FY23/24.
BACKGROUND:
IDEXX Laboratories is the current vendor that Animal Control uses in the diagnosis of our stray animal population and police cases. IDEXX runs labs for our infectious carried diseases, necropsies, heartworm and acts as our third-party confirmation where prosecution is involved. To date we have performed labs on 39 potential police cases. IDEXX provides in-house testing equipment, supplies, and accurate lab results for said needs. This aids in early detection, treatment of our animal population and helps the county, local police departments and the Prosecutor's Office with convictions.
DISCUSSION:
With the increase of intakes, an active surgical center, and police related cases in this fiscal year, we have exceeded our original request and require more to meet our need.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

Animal Control has decreased the funds required from outside sources, and those funds have been applied to meet this need. Said expenditure funds are available within Animal Controls budget and can be taken from Animal Control line item 2130-430.00-801.004.
