title
RE: Sale and lease of Burton Health Building

recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a request to sell the Burton Health Building and to lease back for a defined period.
BACKGROUND:
This Board previously authorized our office to enter negotiations with Hamilton Community Health Network for the purchase of the Burton Health Building. In addition, at the request of the Board, the building was advertised as being available for purchase in the local media. We received no other interest. Negotiations have been concluded with Hamilton and we have reached agreement on a sale price and the potential lease back that will allow Health Department functions to remain on that site until they are moved to the Tower.
DISCUSSION:
The agreed upon purchase price is $1 million. We have negotiated the lease of the facility for at least 8 months for the total cost of $100,000. In leasing back, the county will no longer be responsible for building maintenance and upkeep, reducing the burden on county resources.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
No impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
This will provide a positive impact on the budget and will be used to offset the cost of the TRP.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
The sale of this property will positively impact Facilities by removing the need to maintain this building.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
No impact on IT.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Board of Commissioners have adopted the priority of maintaining our Long-Term Financial Stability. By selling this building and consolidating operations in one location we will be able to reduce our current and future operational costs.
