BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Parks and Recreation staff requests the approval to apply for a grant from the Michigan Natural Resources Trust Fund to develop eight (8) pickleball courts at Linden County Park. Grant Amount Request: $400,000.00.
BACKGROUND:
With a priority to increase recreational opportunities for Genesee County residents of all abilities, Parks is constantly assessing the needs and interests of the community. Pickleball has become very popular and there has been an expressed interest from residents to develop courts in the parks.
DISCUSSION:
Developing pickleball courts at Linden County Park will increase accessibility to recreational opportunities and promotes public health within the community.
Grant applications to the Michigan Department of Natural Resources requires a certified resolution.
This grant will require a 26% match from millage funds and in-kind labor.
NO USE OF GENERAL FUND.
