BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
GCCARD requests authorization from this committee to accept the MDHHS Water Assistance Consolidated Appropriations Funding Program - 2024 award in the amount of $379,393.00 with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD has received notice of the Water Assistance Consolidated Appropriations Funding Program - 2024 (WACAP) award in the amount of $379,393.00 from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).
DISCUSSION:
These funds will be used for the purpose of providing water bill payment assistance for existing, residential water bill arrearages from participating municipalities throughout Genesee County. Funds under this award shall remain available through March 31, 2024.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
No impact of Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
GCCARD will work with Fiscal Services to incorporate the WACAP funds into our budget to perform direct assistance upon approval of the acceptance of the WACAP award.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
No impact of facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
No impact on IT.
IMPACT ON INDIRECT COSTS:
No impact on indirect costs.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
WACAP will conform to Healthy, Livable and Safe Communities as a county priority by covering water/wastewater services needed as it relates to cleaning drinking water, basic needs and safe livable environments for Genesee County residents.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Executive Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize accepting the MDHHS Water Assistance Consolidated Appropriations Funding Program-2024 Award in the amount of $379,393.00 detailed in the memorandum request and attachments is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the October 11, 2023 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board).
