BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
GCCARD requests authorization from this committee to accept the Community Services Block Grant 1 - 2024 (CSBG) funding in the amount of $1,219,280.00 with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD has received notification of an award from the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) for Community Services Block Grant 1 - 2024 funding in the amount of $1, 219,280.00 for the period October 1, 2023 through September 30, 2024.
DISCUSSION:
CSBG funds provide assistance to Genesee County local community members through homelessness prevention efforts by way of utility, housing and property tax assistance. These funds give GCCARD an opportunity to work through a network of community action agencies for the reduction of poverty, the revitalization of low-income communities and the empowerment of low-income families and individuals in rural and urban areas to become fully self-sufficient.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Executive Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize accepting the Community Services Block Grant 1-2024 detailed in the memorandum request and attachments is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the September 6, 2023 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board).
