RE: Approval of the proposed Genesee County Personal Recording Device Policy
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the proposed Genesee County Personal Recording Device Policy
BACKGROUND:
New technology, such as smart glasses, wearable cameras, and other recording devices, is becoming more common. These devices can record audio and video in ways that may not be easily noticed. The County needs clear guidance on the use of these devices in County buildings and while conducting County business.
DISCUSSION:
The policy explains when personal recording devices may and may not be used on County property or while doing County business. It also explains that County-approved tools, such as Microsoft Teams, may still be used when proper approval and notice are given. The policy helps protect privacy, confidential information, and County records.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:

IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
