BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office request the approval to enter into agreement with the Motherly Intersession Agency to provide ongoing support services to incarcerated individuals in the Genesee County Jail and their families for the term of October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026. The cost of this service is $50,000.00 to be requested from the general fund budget.
BACKGROUND:
The Genesee County Sheriff’s Office has worked with Motherly Intersession for over twenty-five years. Motherly Intersessions with long standing commitment to support and foster justice-impacted families in Genesee County cannot be duplicated. Their dedication to this population has been one of compassion, empathy and service ensuring children of incarcerated individuals procure lasting relationships with their parents.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to authorize entering into a professional services contract between Genesee County, the Sheriff’s Office, and Motherly Intersession, whereby the contractor will provide support services for incarcerated individuals in the Genesee County Jail for the term commencing October 1, 2025, through September 30, 2026, at a total cost not to exceed $50,000.00 to be paid from general fund account 1010-305.00-801.004 as outlined in the memorandum request and attached contract, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the October 22, 2025 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee off this Board), both the Chairperson of this Board and the Sheriff are authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County, and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
