Request approval of an agreement between Genesee County and VAAA, in an amount not to exceed $10,000.00, to provide Genesee County's local match funding; the cost for this contract will be paid from account 2231-691.00-883.034
BACKGROUND:
This annual agreement allows service providers to receive funding for approved budgeted expenses from the Genesee County Senior Millage. Local match dollars are local, non-federal resources that help meet the required matching share for state or federal aging funds. They are essentially the community’s financial contribution that enables the AAA or its service providers to draw down and use the larger government grant.
DISCUSSION:
This is an annual one-time payment to VAAA for the “LOCAL MATCH.” This will be paid from account #2231-691.00-883.034 in an amount not to exceed $10,000.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Department of Senior Services to authorize entering into the FY 2026-2027 Service Provider Contract between Genesee County and the Valley Area Agency on Aging, whereby the County will provide its local match for the period commencing October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, in a total amount not to exceed $10,000.00 to be paid from account #2231-691.00-883.034, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the November 3, 2026 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
