BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to enter a blanket PO to Bob Barker for FY27 in the amount of $33,000.00 to be paid from 1010-351.00-774.000 & 1010-351.00-768.000 to provide for the supplies of the inmates lodged in the Genesee County Jail.
BACKGROUND:
Bob Barker has been a long-time approved and trusted County vendor servicing both the Genesee County Jail and the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center. The vendor has also proven to be price-competitive, availability as well as being able to provide these specialty types of (inmate) items, vendor does not charge shipping either, whereas other suppliers do.
DISCUSSION:
For 50 years Bob Barker Company has introduced many new, innovative products to help solve customers’ problems and make corrections and detention facilities safer. Bob Barker Company offers the broadest product line and largest inventory of corrections and detention supplies to federal, state and local government agencies and select businesses.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to authorize an expenditure, in the form of a blanket purchase order to Bob Barker, to provide bedding-related items and clothing to inmates housed in the jail, for the period commencing October 1, 2026, through September 30, 2027, at a total cost not to exceed $33,000.00 to be paid from accounts 1010-351.00-774.000 ($8,000.00) and 1010-351.00-768.000 ($25,000.00), is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the October 7, 2026 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
