BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Parks and Recreation staff requests the approval of the proposed Request for Conveyance submitted by the Department of Natural Resources for the nine (9) tax parcels, known locally as Chevy Commons.
BACKGROUND:
The gift of 67.24 acres of land to the state will be incorporated into the Flint State Park Project.
DISCUSSION:
The attached Request for Conveyance requests approval from the Parks Commission (attached) and the Genesee County Board of Commissioners.
The Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission will continue their partnership with the Department of Natural Resources to establish and operate the State Park in Flint and Genesee County.

None.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
No use of funds - gift of land. State Park will fund the maintenance of Chevy Commons, reducing County Parks maintenance costs.

Approval of the request is in support of providing quality recreation opportunities and expanded opportunities to the residents and visitors of Flint and Genesee County, and supports growth in the community.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, Genesee County, owns 67.24 Acres of Land, known locally as Chevy Commons, consisting of nine (9) tax parcels including 40-13-251-010, 40-13-251-011, 40-13-251-004, 40-13-131-005, 40-13-176-002, 40-13-301-005, 40-13-251-007, 40-13-326-005, and 40-13-301-003; and
WHEREAS, the Michigan Department of Natural Resources has submitted a Request for Conveyance of Chevy Commons, accepting the above-referenced conveyance of land for incorporation into the Flint State Park Project; and
WHEREAS, the Genesee County Parks and Recreation Commission submitted formal support, per RESOLUTION NO. 004-24, for the conveyance of lands in support of the Flint State Park Project and quality recreational opportunities to the people of Flint, Michigan, at the regularly scheduled meeting of the Parks Commission on Thursday, January 25, 2024.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Parks and Recreation Director to authorize approval for the conveyance of lands in support of the Flint State Park Project to the Department of Natural Resources is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the February 7, 2024 meeting of the Public Works Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute any documents necessary to complete said transfer on behalf of Genesee County.
