RE: Circuit Court Elevator Modernization (Historic Side)

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of Genesee County Courthouse Modernization Proposal for 2 Historic Side Elevators.
BACKGROUND:
The (2) existing historic courthouse elevators were last updated in the late 1970’s - early 1980’s. The control equipment is outdated and is largely no longer available. These historic elevators are the only two that service 4th floor and attic area. One of the elevators is currently down and unrepairable due to lack of replacement parts.
DISCUSSION:
This is part of the approved prioritized projects on the capital plan. The attached agreement will modernize the entire elevator system on the historic side and bring it up to the most current standard. By leveraging our current vendor and the national cooperative agreement as we have done with the tower project, we have a discounted price of $656,500.00 for the proposal. We anticipate 20 weeks for manufacturing time and 13 weeks per car to perform the work.

$656,500.00 with a contingency of 5% for change orders

Facilities will be the contract administrator

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of Facilities and Operations to authorize accepting the Genesee County Courthouse Modernization Proposal from OTIS Elevator Company to manufacture and install the elevator system on the historic side of the Circuit Courthouse, at a cost not to exceed $656,500.00 to be paid through the capital fund 4920-265.00-975.001, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the July 17, 2024 meeting of the Public Works Committee of this Board), the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute any necessary contracts, and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
