BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to approve a purchase order for Genesee Packaging, Inc., for FY 2023-2024, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County Board of Commissioners approved Reso#2023-665 on 10/18/2023, authorizing GCCARD’s Commodities Program to enter into an agreement with MDE for fiscal year 2024, for the distribution of Commodity Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) shelf stable foods to qualifying seniors. This purchase order will approve the purchase of the boxes these foods are packed in for distribution.
DISCUSSION:
GCCARD requests approval of a purchase order with Genesee Packaging, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $40,000.00 to fulfill the obligation specified in the referenced Resolution.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
No impact on Human Resources
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The grant funding listed would be reduced by $40,000.00. $28,000 from fund 2757-697.30-752.000 and $12,000.00 from fund 2759-697.30-752.000. There are no General Fund dollars being requested for this Purchase Order.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
GCCARD’s Lippincott warehouse has ample space dedicated for the storage of these boxes.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
No impact on technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
This memorandum conforms to Genesee County’s priority of Healthy, Livable, and Safe Communities by ensuring that Genesee County residents are provided with healthy ingredients to create nutritious meals for themselves and their families.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Interim Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize an expenditure, in the form of a Purchase Order, for Genesee Packaging, Inc. Not to Exceed $40,000.00, for FY 2023-2024 for the purchase of boxes utilized by GCCARD’s Commodity Distribution Program with funds available in fund 2757-697.30-752.000 for $28,000.00 and fund 2759-697.30-752.00 for $12,000.00 is approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the official records of the November 8, 2023, meeting of the Human Services Committee).
