BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Parks and Recreations staff requests approval of a change order to the contract with Siwek Construction in the amount of $29,206.69, for work associated with the Attica Hotel Exterior Restoration project at Crossroads Village.
BACKGROUND:
RES-2026-0904 approved the contract for Siwek Construction to complete the Attica Hotel Exterior Restoration project at Crossroads Village.
DISCUSSION:
After test sections were cut into the exterior of the building, it was determined that there is no sheathing. Sheathing needs to be installed to adhere to the new siding and window trim would then also have to be replaced so they would not be too thin against the new sheathing. This was not included in the original contract.
The project is currently at a standstill. Further work would expose the building to the elements and wreck the interior of the building.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Parks and Recreation Director to authorize amending the Construction Contract between Genesee County and Siwek Construction, said amendment being necessary to complete the Attica Hotel Exterior Restoration project at Crossroads Village by replacing sheathing and window trim, at a total additional cost not to exceed $29,206.69 to be paid from account 2080-770.03-975.001, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the September 16, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee of this Board), the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the amendment on behalf of Genesee County, and the Document Review Board is authorized to approve any change orders to this contract that are less than twenty percent of the original contract amount.
