RE: FYE 2024 Vehicle Purchases
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the purchase of vehicles for the FYE 2024
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County Motor Pool and Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission annually purchase vehicles based on a replacement schedule.
DISCUSSION:
Genesee County’s Motor Pool and Genesee County’s Parks & Recreation Commission have submitted a list of vehicles for purchase during the fiscal year ending 2024. As in past years, pricing will be consistent with the State of Michigan cooperative agreement and will be priced by General Motors at the point of order. Due to ongoing economic conditions and the ongoing strike, delivery date and costs are not available until the order is finalized. As in past years, we expect long lead times for delivery.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
No impact on HR.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
These vehicles will be purchased through Motor Pool (6610-000.00-148.000) and the Parks & Recreation Commission (2080-764.00-978.000 and 6665-000.00-148.000) and charged to using cost centers. The cost for that usage is included in the budget. Consistent with past practice, cost will be determined by GM at the time of purchase using fleet pricing.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no further impact on F&O.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There is no further impact on Technology.
IMPACT ON INDIRECT COSTS:
n/a
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
By continuing to implement our replacement schedule, we continue to emphasize the Board of Commissioner’s commitment to Long Term Financial Stability through reducing long term costs of old and worn vehicles.
TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, that the Director of Administration’s request for the purchase of vehicles with pricing consistent with the State of Michigan cooperative agreement and priced by General Motors at the point of order and serving as an exception to the Genesee County vehicle purchase policy to allow for the purchase of a specialty transport vehicle that is made by Chrysler is hereby approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the records of the October 11, 2023 meeting of the Public Works Committee of this Board). These vehicles will be purchased through Motor Pool (6610-000.00-148.000); the Parks & Recreation Commission (2080-764.00-978.000 and 6665-000.00-148.000); and Grant Accounts (1010-316.01-978.00 and 1010-318.00-978.00), and charged to using cost centers.
