recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to enter into an agreement with Sentinel to upgrade and install panic buttons at the following buildings - McCree, Out Courts (Burton, Grand Blanc, Fenton, Davison), Circuit and Animal Care; for the amount not to exceed $105,658.71
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County currently uses a mix of aging panic button technologies and vendors across its facilities. The Board approved the first phase of the panic button upgrade during the Tower renovations. Converting the remaining buildings to one unified system will create greater consistency and align those locations with the Tower.
DISCUSSION:
Genesee County currently uses a mix of aging panic button technologies and vendors across its facilities. The Board approved the first phase of the panic button upgrade as part of the Tower renovations. The IT Department’s goal is to unify the County on shared platforms that provide advanced tools and greater flexibility for departments. Under RFP 25-464, Sentinel was awarded the bid for the panic button refresh and upgrade project. The Verkada solution was selected due to its built-in integration with the County’s door alarm and camera systems, ease of retrofitting existing spaces, and ability to support future expansion. This upgrade will bring the remaining County locations in line with the system implemented at the Tower during the renovation phase. The new system will also allow the County to determine how alarm events are handled, either by contacting 911 emergency services or by routing alerts through a designated monitoring point for the buildings identified as McCree, the out courts in Burton, Grand Blanc, Fenton, and Davison, Circuit Court, and Animal Care.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There is no impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Under RFP 25-464, Sentinel was awarded the bid for the panic button refresh and upgrade project, not to exceed $105,658.71. Costs are being paid by various accounts, see attached. Budget amendments are included.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
Coordination may be required with vendors to allow them into secured areas.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
Revied by IT.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The panic button upgrade will enhance safety for employees and citizens, aligning with the County’s priority of Healthy, Livable, and Safe Community.
