BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Circuit Court Family Division is requesting approval of FY24 contract with Easterseals of Michigan to provide intensive family support services for the term commencing October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024, at a cost to the County of $165,000 to be paid from accounts 2920-663.03-801.004 ($130,000), 2920-663.37-801.004 ($5000), and 1010-662.00-868.010($30,000). The services are a part of the approved child care fund annual plan and budget.
BACKGROUND:
Easter Seals of Michigan (ESM) will provide intensive family support services to families in child protective proceedings where a neglect complaint or petition have been filed with the Court
DISCUSSION:
Easter Seals of Michigan (ESM) social workers will support to families and/or youth who have demonstrated issues in substance use, mental health, improper housing, poor school attendance, poor parenting skills, poor relationship skills, lack of participation in parenting time, and lack of participation in court hearings. The social workers will not only provide a referral to community resources but will assist parents in accessing community resources. The program will help parents and youth obtain the services identified in their probation case plan or parent/agency treatment plan.

The services are a part of the approved child care fund annual plan and budget.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Family Division Administrator to authorize entering into a contract between Genesee County and Easterseals of Michigan, whereby Easterseals of Michigan will provide intensive family support services for the term commencing October 1, 2023, through September 30, 2024 at a cost to the County of $165,000 to be paid from accounts 2920-663.03-801.004 ($130,000), 2920-663.37-801.004 ($5,000), and 1010-662.00-868.010 ($30,000) is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the September 20, 2023 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
