BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to approve the increase of hourly wages for the following GCCARD positions: Clerical Aide, Transportation Aide, Stock Clerk, Commodities Warehouse Assistant, and Commodities Office Assistant to $15.00 per hour, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD is requesting authorization to increase the wages of five staff positions. All listed positions would receive an increase to $15.00 per hour.
DISCUSSION:
The objective of this wage increase is to bring GCCARD positions up to a livable and competitive level. An increase of the wages for Clerical Aide, Transportation Aide, Stock Clerk, Commodities Warehouse Assistant, and Commodities Office Assistant would strengthen our recruiting and retention efforts.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
The Genesee County Human Resources Department will be required to process notices of wage increase for five GCCARD positions.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There will be no impact on budget as after analysis of funds and due to vacant positions, no budget amendments are needed. This increase will be paid from various funds and no General Fund dollars are being requested.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
This memorandum conforms to Genesee County’s priority of Community Growth through the raising of wages and Long-Term Financial Stability in an effort to strengthen the recruitment and retention of Genesee County employees.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize increasing the wages for the GCCARD Clerical Aide, Transportation Aide, Stock Clerk, Commodities Warehouse Assistant, and Commodities Office Assistant staff positions to $15.00 per hour, said increase being necessary to bring wages up to a livable and competitive level to strengthen recruiting and retention efforts, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request dated February 21, 2024, being on file with the official records of the February 21, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
