BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of Genesee County's annual payments to area hospitals for uncompensated care.
BACKGROUND:
Annually, Genesee County provides payment to three local hospitals to offset the cost of uncompensated care.
DISCUSSION:
In the current fiscal year, the Board budgeted $1,500,000 for payments to local hospitals. This funding is split to provide payment equal to each hospital’s percentage of the total uncompensated care within Genesee County. As we finalize the fiscal year, the three local hospitals are submitting for payment for previous years uncompensated care. Approval of this resolution will authorize payments not to exceed the budgeted amount.

There is no impact on HR.

These payments are budgeted and will be paid from Genesee County’s Uninsured Health Services Millage account 2230-255.01-835.007.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of Administration to authorize Genesee County’s annual payments to area hospitals for uncompensated care, in a total amount not to exceed $1,500,000.00 to be paid from the Uninsured Health Services Millage account 2230-255.01-835.007, said total amount to be paid proportionally to each hospital based on their percentage of the total county uncompensated care within Genesee County, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the official records of the September 11, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board).
