BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Parks and Recreation staff requests the approval of a travel request for six (6) Parks staff to attend the 2024 mParks Conference & Trade Show in Kalamazoo, MI, in an amount not to exceed $7,200.00.
BACKGROUND:
The mParks Conference offers over 100 hours of educational sessions and workshops, networking opportunities, and the conference offers Continuing Education Units (CEU).

The conference provides our staff with educational opportunities, required CEUs for certifications, and networking opportunities. Educational opportunities include conservation and environmental stewardship strides, health and wellness of our communities, and vital parks and recreation methods. The conference promotes collaboration with other agencies and entities to create economic growth.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Parks and Recreation Director to authorize overnight travel and attendance for six Parks staff, Patrick Linihan, Anthony Walter, Beth Schrader, Nicole Ferguson, Courtney Prout, and Emily Stetson, to attend the 2024 mParks Conference in Kalamazoo, Michigan, for the period commencing February 27, 2024, through March 1, 2024, at a total cost not to exceed $7,200.00, with $1,150.00 to be paid from account 2085-788.00-910.004, and $6,050.00 to be paid from account 2080-751.00-910.004, with no additional County appropriation required, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the official records of the January 17, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
