BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a contract with Genesee Health System to provide behavioral health services for youth at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center for a term commencing October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025 at a cost of $85,000 to be paid from account 2920-356.00-801.028. The services are a part of the approved childcare fund annual plan and budget.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee Health System will provide behavioral health services for youth at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center including mental health and trauma screening, psychiatric evaluations, psychosocial assessments, medication reviews, case management services, and therapy services.
DISCUSSION:
Youth detained at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center are presenting with very significant mental health and trauma issues. To provide best-standard care, it is crucial that we provide a wide array of behavioral health services while they are in the program. Genesee Health System will provide clinical staff for up to 32 hours per week who will provide assessments, crisis counseling, and referrals for further evaluation. Additional services that will be provided are mental health and trauma screening, psychiatric evaluations, psychosocial assessments, medication reviews, case management services, and therapy services.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Family Division Administrator to authorize entering into a contract between Genesee County and Genesee Health System, whereby Genesee Health System will provide behavioral health services for youth at the Genesee County Juvenile Justice Center for the term commencing October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, at a total cost not to exceed $85,000 to be paid from account 2920-356.00-801.028, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the October 16, 2024 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
