recommendation

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to purchase two (2) Verkada cameras and 10-year license through SHI International in an amount not to exceed $5,850.00 for the Legal Resource area and Court Room 2 cameras within the District Court area of the McCree building, to be paid from accounts 2933-286.00-801.004 and 1010-000.00-123.000; vendor exceeds $30,000

BACKGROUND:
The County selected the Verkada camera system as part of an effort to upgrade and standardize security cameras throughout County buildings. Using one camera system helps create a more consistent security platform, improves system management, and allows staff to monitor and access camera footage through a centralized system. This approach also supports better long-term maintenance as cameras are added or replaced in County facilities.

DISCUSSION:
The purchase of two additional Verkada cameras will improve security coverage in the District Court area of the McCree building by adding cameras in the Legal Resource area and Courtroom 2. These areas are used by staff, court personnel, and the public, making reliable visibility important for safety and incident review. Adding the cameras to the existing Verkada system will allow them to be managed through the County’s current security platform without introducing a separate system.

IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There is no impact on Human Resources.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Per the Purchasing Policy, permission to spend funds with a vendor over the $30,000 threshold is required.  This expense will be paid from 2933-286.00-801.004 ($1,987.38) and pre-paid account 1010-000.00-123.000 ($3,862.62), not to exceed $5,850.00.  Using August 1, 2026 as a starting point for the 10-year licenses.  By selecting SHI International over CDW-G, we are saving approximately $2,607.00.

IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
Facilities may be required to provide access to secure areas of the building.

IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
Reviewed by IT.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
This purchase supports Healthy, Livable & Safe Communities by improving security coverage within the District Court building.
