RE: Approval of a two (2) month extension of the GFL contract that provides solid waste removal/disposal at various County facilities
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Purchasing Department is requesting approval to extend a current contract for a period not to exceed two (2) months with Green For Life (GFL).
BACKGROUND:
GFL provides solid waste pick-up to approximately 41 areas throughout the County. The contract has expired, and Purchasing is requesting that the current contract be extended for a period not to exceed two months (November 30, 2026). Purchasing is in the process of soliciting bids for these services, because during the last few months the price of fuel has risen since the original solicitation. It was thought that the prices would go down, however, analyses from US Energy Information Administration suggest that US gasoline prices are not expected to fall sharply in the near term. Purchasing will provide the Board a packet for review and approval no later than the November Committee meetings.
