BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of Genesee County’s annual payments to area hospitals for uncompensated care.
BACKGROUND:
Annually, Genesee County provides payments to three local hospitals to offset the cost of uncompensated care.
DISCUSSION:
Funding is split to provide payments equal to each hospital’s percentage of the total uncompensated care within Genesee County. A spreadsheet is attached describing this breakdown. Approval of this resolution will authorize payments not to exceed $3,000,000.00.

There is sufficient funding available in the Uninsured Health Services Millage fund balance. Payments will be made from account 2230-255.01-835.007.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of Administration to authorize Genesee County’s annual payments to area hospitals for uncompensated care, in a total amount not to exceed $3,000,000.00, to be paid from the Uninsured Health Services Millage account 2230-255.01-835.007, said total amount to be paid proportionally to each hospital based on their percentage of total county uncompensated care within Genesee County, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents to be placed on file with the official records of the September 24, 2025 meeting of this Board).
