BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the reappointment of James Avery to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority; the term of office is 10/1/2024 through 9/30/2028
BACKGROUND:
Commissioner Avery is an incumbent member of the Genesee County Land Bank. His term expired on 9/30/2024 and has continued to serve. He has expressed a desire for reappointment.
DISCUSSION:
This Board has the authority to appoint members of the Genesee County Land Bank Authority. There is an expired term that requires either a new appointment or a reappointment of the incumbent.

There will be no impact.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Board of County Commissioners has prioritized Community Growth. In serving on various boards and commissions, the county is able to collaborate with other agencies to further that priority.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, the Genesee County Board of County Commissioners (“this Board”) is authorized to appoint a member to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority (“Land Bank”) when an appointment term ends or a vacancy occurs; and
WHEREAS, County Commissioner James Avery’s term expired on September 30, 2024, thereby creating a vacancy; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner James Avery has expressed an interest in being reappointed to another four-year term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby reappoints Commissioner James Avery to the Land Bank Authority for a new four-year term expiring on September 30, 2028, having found that Commissioner Avery satisfies the requirements set by this Board’s Appointment Policy 01.002 and any relevant statutory authority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appointee is subject to removal by this Board pursuant to Appointment Policy 01.002, and any relevant statutory authority.
