BACKGROUND:
A request for proposal (RFP 24-376) properly submitted through the purchasing department for this service which yielded two bids. The bid from Preferred Removal Service best aligned with our budget.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Currently the cost per transport is $160, with the new contract the cost increased $65.00 to $225.00 per transport a projected increase of $60,700 per year. A budget increase is not needed for the remainder of this fiscal year. For a cost not to exceed $210,000.00 to be paid from 1010-648.00-801.006 (Service Contract Body).

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Medical Examiner’s Office to authorize entering into a professional services contract between Genesee County and Preferred Removal Service, whereby Preferred Removal Service will be providing body removal services for the 15-month term commencing July 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, at a cost not to exceed $265,000.00 to be paid from account 1010-648.00-801.006 (Service Contract Body), is approved (a copy of the memorandum request dated June 11, 2024, and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the July 17, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
