BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the reappointment of Commissioner James Avery to Genesee County’s Parks & Recreation Commission for a 3-year term expiring on 01/01/2029.
BACKGROUND:
The Board of County Commissioners makes all appointments to Genesee County’s Parks & Recreation Commission. Each term is for three years. Prospective appointees are recommended by the Board Chairperson for consideration by the full Board.
DISCUSSION:
Commissioner Avery has served on Parks & Recreation Commission since January 2023 and has indicated a desire to be reappointed. Chairman Weighill is recommending the reappointment of Commissioner Avery for an additional three-year term.

There will be no impact on HR.

There will be no additional impact on budget.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There is no impact on technology.

The Board of County Commissioners has prioritized Community Growth. In serving on various boards and commissions, Commissioners are able to collaborate with other agencies that work to create space for community growth.
TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan (“this Board”), is authorized to appoint a member to the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission when an appointment term ends or a vacancy occurs; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner James Avery’s term expired on January 1, 2026, thereby creating a vacancy that must be filled by this Board; and
WHEREAS, Chairperson Dale Weighill is recommending Commissioner James Avery be re-appointed to a new term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby re-appoints Commissioner James Avery to the Genesee County Parks & Recreation Commission to serve a new term expiring January 1, 2029, having found that Commissioner Avery satisfies the requirements set by this Board’s Appointment Policy 01.002 and any relevant statutory authority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appointee is subject to removal by this Board pursuant to Appointment Policy 01.002, and any relevant statutory authority.
