BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to accept the grant award from the United Way of Genesee County in the amount of $30,000.00, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD received notification of a $30,000.00 grant award from the United Way for the Emergency Food and Shelter National Board Program Phase 41 for the fiscal year of October 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024. This program’s National Board, chaired by FEMA with representatives from private sector agencies such as the United Way, was established by Congress in 1983 as a collaborative effort between the private and public sectors to meet the needs of hungry and homeless people throughout the United States.
DISCUSSION:
GCCARD has been approved for $15,000.00 for Shelter, Rent, and Mortgage assistance and $15,000.00 for utility assistance for qualified Genesee County residents.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
$30,000.00 will be added to fund #2739-696.41-504.000

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize accepting a grant from the United Way, in the amount of $30,000.00 to be deposited into fund 2739-696.41-504.000, for the Phase 41 fiscal year of October 1, 2022, through December 31, 2024, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the June 5, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board), and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
