BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Michigan Townships Association is recommending approval to appoint Coetta Adams as a new member to the Allocation Committee.
BACKGROUND:
Earlier in 2023, a position on the Allocation Committee became vacant due to the retirement of Montrose Township Supervisor, Mark Emmendorfer. Membership of the committee includes 3 township representatives. Staff requested that the Genesee County chapter of the Michigan Townships Association appoint a new representative to the committee.
DISCUSSION:
The Genesee County chapter of the Michigan Townships Association appointed the new Montrose Township Supervisor, Coetta Adams, as the new representative at its October 2023 meeting.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Allocation Committee primarily reviews and makes recommendations to the Board of Commissioners for Community Development funded projects. The committee regularly discusses issues including housing, infrastructure, public services, public facility improvements, elimination of blight, and more. All of these types of projects align well with Genesee County’s goals for healthy, livable, and safe communities.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by the Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of Planning and the Michigan Township Association, to authorize appointment of Coetta Adams, Montrose Township Supervisor, as the new representative to the Allocation Committee, to fill the vacant position left due to the retirement of former Montrose Township Supervisor, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the November 15, 2023, meeting of this Board).
