BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Office of Senior Services (GCOSS) requests approval of a contract between Genesee County and the City of Linden in an amount not to exceed $206,330.00 to provide for the operation of the Loose Senior Center; the cost for this agreement will be paid from Genesee County's Senior Millage Funds.
BACKGROUND:
The City of Linden has taken over the operations of the Loose Senior Center (Resolution from the City of Linden is attached.) The non-profit corporation that used to oversee and run the center has been dissolved. We are asking that Genesee County contract now with the City of Linden for the rest of this fiscal year.
DISCUSSION:
This was a decision made by the City of Linden in the best interest of the center. GCOSS will work alongside the city to ensure a smooth transition as needed and or requested.

This is 100% Senior Millage Funded and funding was approved for the center in the Genesee County budget. As of 12/31/2023, the center has used $ 35,998.00 of its awarded $206,330.00. This leaves 83% or $170,332.00 for the City of Linden to run and operate the center through 9/30/2024. Loose Senior Center #2231-691.00-867.012

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Office of Senior Services to authorize entering into the FY 2023-2024 contract between Genesee County and the City of Linden, whereby the City of Linden will operate the Loose Senior Center for the term commencing January 1, 2024, through September 30, 2024, to be paid from account #2231-691.00-867.012 in an amount not to exceed $170,332.00, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the official records of the February 7, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
