BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to purchase licenses from DUO for Multi-Factor Authentication in the amount of $52,100.00.
BACKGROUND:
Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is becoming an increasingly vital way to protect organizations from account hijacking. Insurance companies are basing their rates on an organization’s utilization of such tools. Genesee County Information Technology has been utilizing DUO MFA since 2020 on a limited scale and now plans to increase adoption of MFA county-wide. This will secure employee logins.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Information Technology Department to authorize purchasing 1,400 licenses and 400 hardware tokens from SHI International Corp to provide secure employee computer logins though multi-factor authentication, in a total amount not to exceed $52,100.00, with $19,047.64 to be paid from account 1010-228.01-933.001 for fiscal year 2024 and $33,052.36 to be paid from account 1010-000.00-123.000 for fiscal year 2025, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the August 17, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
