BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approve an amendment to resolution RES-2023-76 which is an ARPA funded project for jail re-wiring. This would increase the purchase order number 23-04229 by $38,098.00
BACKGROUND:
This an overhaul of the data wiring for the jail. Some unexpected hindrances and expenses were discovered during the installation phase of the project. The original amount was $ 268,617.00. The contract was awarded to Newkirk Electric which was the winning bidder of Genesee County’s RFP process.
DISCUSSION:
There has been an agreement with the vendor “Newkirk” and Genesee County Legal Counsel, Purchasing and IT Project Management.

This is request of an additional $ 38,098 for purchase order number 23-04229 utilizing ARPA account number 1010-640.02-899.000.

Long Term Legacy Costs are addressed in the project. The original wiring that is being replaced is the source of consistent problems and loss of productivity as well as creating a safety hazard.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Chief Information Officer to authorize amending Resolution 2023-76, the purchase of services from Newkirk Electric to overhaul the data wiring in the jail, said amendment being necessary to increase Purchase Order 23-04229 by an additional $38,098.00 to be paid from account 1010-640.02-899.000, American Rescue Plan Act funds, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the February 7, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chief Financial Officer is authorized to record the attached budget amendment.
