RE: FY 2023 Budget Transfer Request

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
District Court respectfully request the attached budget amendment for the fiscal year ending September 30, 2023.
BACKGROUND/DISCUSSION:
This request is for approval for a budget transfer to various accounts. The reallocation of funds will align the Court’s budget with the actual expenses incurred this fiscal year. The increased expenses incurred from staffing, court backlog and the automatic conviction set aside law. This law requires the courts to process a substantial number of cases with active warrants in (LEIN) Law Enforcement Information Network. The overtime allows the court staff to perform the additional work.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The District Court has a surplus in Salaries & Wages and fringes in the FY 22/23. Therefore, we are requesting to transfer $23,500 to the accounts listed in the attached budget amendment.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the District Court Administrator to authorize a budget amendment to the FY22/23 budget, said amendment being fully described in the memorandum request, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of September 6, 2023 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chief Financial Officer directed to make the budget adjustment, as needed, to effectuate this resolution.
