BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of an agreement between Genesee County and the Flint & Genesee Group in the amount of $50,000.00 to provide for additional services.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County contracts with the Flint & Genesee Group to provide Convention and Visitor Bureau services. As part of that agreement, the Flint & Genesee Group maintains a website and prints visitors guides for those that are interested in visiting our county.
DISCUSSION:
The Flint & Genesee Group is looking to update their website to provide for digital accessibility for those that are using it and to update their digital marketing. To accomplish this, they are contracting with two firms to provide updates. AudioEye will be updating the site for accessibility and Aaron Peterson Studios will be updating photographic content for the new digital marketing. To help with this, the Flint & Genesee Group is asking for an allocation of $42,970.00 from the Accommodation Tax Fund to help offset the cost. In addition to the above, they are also asking for an additional printing of their Visitors Guide. This cost is $7,030.00 and would also be paid from the Accommodation Tax Fund.

There is funding available through our Accommodation Tax Fund to be paid from account 2180-729.00-899.000.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
This request would align with our priority of Community Growth. In attracting visitors to our region, we would see an economic benefit to business. In addition, this serves as a collaboration point with the Flint & Genesee Group as we work to increase tourism to and in Genesee County.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of Administration to authorize amending the Marketing Agreement between Genesee County and the Flint and Genesee Group (the “Group”), said amendment being necessary to pay the Group an additional $50,000.00 to update its website to provide for digital accessibility for people with disabilities and to print additional visitors guides, to be paid out of the Accommodation Tax Fund, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request, supporting documents, and amendment being on file with the official minutes of the February 7, 2024 meeting of the Community and Economic Development of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute this amendment on behalf of Genesee County.
