BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization from this committee to accept and expend the Commodity Credit Corporation Operational (CCCO) award from the Michigan Department of Education (MDE) in the amount of $91,017.00, with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD received notification of a $91,017.00 grant from the MDE for the CCCO Funding for fiscal year 23-24, funded under the provisions of Section 5(c) of the Commodity Credit Corporation Charter to support The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP) with operational expenses
DISCUSSION:
GCCARD has been approved for $91,017.00 in funding for TEFAP Operational Expenses. GCCARD’s TEFAP program distributes USDA foods quarterly to Genesee County residents in need of emergency food assistance.

$91,017.00 will be added to Fund #2757-697.32-504.000. Budget detail attached.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize accepting and expending the Michigan Department of Education Commodity Credit Corporation Operational Funding Grant in the amount of $91,017.00 for the fiscal year of 2023-2024, said award funds to be deposited into account 2757-697.32-504.000, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the June 5, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board).
