BACKGROUND:
A request for proposal (RFP 24-392) properly submitted through the purchasing department for this service yielded one bid. The only bidder was Preferred Removal Service who holds the current contract.

IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Currently the cost per investigation is $125, with the new contract the cost increased $60.00 to $185.00 per scene investigation a projected increase of $118,200 per year. A budget increase is not needed for the remainder of this fiscal year. For a cost not to exceed $365,000 to be paid from 1010-648.00-801.000 (Service Contract).

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Medical Examiner’s Office to authorize entering into a professional services contract between Genesee County and Preferred Removal Service, whereby Preferred Removal Service will be providing death scene investigation services for the 15-month term commencing July 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, at a cost not to exceed $365,000.00 to be paid from account 1010-648.00-801.000 (Service Contract), is approved (a copy of the memorandum and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the August 14, 2024 meeting of the Human Services Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
