BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of an agreement to lease vehicles from Suski Chevrolet Buick Inc.
BACKGROUND:
Sheriff under-cover operations needs a variety of vehicles for their operations. This rotation will limit the amount of times that their cover is compromised while in the field.
DISCUSSION:
The Sheriff's Department solicited multiple dealers to reach agreement on a short-term lease deal that would allow for the rotation of vehicles through their operations. Suski Chevrolet Buick Inc. was the only dealer willing to try this under a limited trial. Due to the success of this trail the Sheriff’s Office needs to increase access to leased vehicles from five (5) to eight (8) vehicles to be leased up to 10,000 miles or six months each at the rate of $450 per month per vehicle. The county will be required to perform regular maintenance while we are in custody of the vehicle including at least one oil change and tire rotation per every 6 months or 10,000-mile lease. These vehicles will be used Chevrolets.

5 vehicles are currently budgeted for. The 3 additional requested vehicles will be billed to account #6610-234.00-983.002 at the rate of $450/month with an increase to the original request by $16,200.

Inspection of vehicles prior to acceptance as well as required maintenance.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to authorize entering into lease agreements between Genesee County and Suski Chevrolet Buick Inc., for the purpose of leasing three additional vehicles, for a total of eight vehicles, to be used by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff, the cost of said vehicles not to exceed $450.00 per month per vehicle, each lease to be for a period of either six months or 10,000 miles, whichever occurs first, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the January 21, 2026 meeting of the Public Works Committee of this Board), the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the lease agreements on behalf of Genesee County, and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
