RE: Approval to amend a purchase order to New Paths, Inc., not to exceed an additional $7,510.00, to provide for substance use treatment services in Genesee County's Specialty Courts; the cost of this purchase order is grant funded and will be paid from the accounts listed
recommendation
BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Specialty Courts - 7th Circuit Court - are requesting an increase in the purchase order amount for services from New Paths, Inc. to pay invoices for substance use treatment services rendered to participants of the specialty court programs.
BACKGROUND:
The Specialty Courts contract New Paths, Inc. for substance use services for all four programs. This request is to move funds that are already allocated for the project to the purchase order amount for New Paths. $7,360 will be moved from line item 2924-326.00-752.000 to 2924-326.00-801.004. $150 will be moved from line item 2924-283.00-752.00 to 2924-283.00-801.004 to accommodate costs for the remainder of the fiscal year. The increase in necessary funds is due to changes in Medicaid coverage mid-year. There are currently participants in the specialty court programs with documented indigency.
DISCUSSION:
See above.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
None.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
The amounts for anticipated expenses will be reallocated from current incentive line items to a new line item within each grant. No new funds are required - just a reallocation of line items within the grant and an increase in the purchase order to New Paths, Inc.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
None.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
None.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
The Specialty Court Programs and all trainings attended by their staff and contractors help utilize grant funding money to advance the priority of safe communities by enhancing public safety and reducing the rate of recidivism through rehabilitation. The grant funded trainings provide staff with new tools, resources, and support necessary to assist offenders in maintaining long-term sobriety.
