RE: 2024 Annual PAAM Mid-Winter Conference

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval for registration, overnight travel and attendance by up to fifteen (15) members of the Prosecuting Attorney staff to the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan Mid-Winter Conference at the Grand Traverse Resort, February 28-March1, 2024. Authorize the expenditure from account 1010-296.01- 910.004 TRAINING. The total request is for up to $6,375.00.
BACKGROUND:
The PAAM Mid-Winter Conference is one of two major statewide prosecutor conferences which the Prosecutor specifically includes in the training and travel budget each year. The conference brings together prosecutors from around the state and is an integral part of our ongoing professional development and networking. In addition, this conference recognizes prosecutors for their years of service. The conference will be held at its regular location at the Grand Traverse Resort in Traverse City.

This conference is in our approved FY2024 budget. Registration includes workshop materials, lodging, and meals. The total cost for up to 15 staff members is $6,375.

CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
Conforms to promote safe communities, community growth, and long-term financial stability. The training will help staff expand their current knowledge and be able to develop relationships by networking with other individuals who have the same profession. This will allow action that Prosecutors across the state can collaborate on to keeping communities safe and help them grow.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney’s Director of Operations to authorize travel and overnight lodging for the Prosecuting Attorney and up to fifteen (15) staff members to attend the Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan 2024 Annual Mid-Winter Conference in Traverse City, Michigan, February 28, 2024, through March 1, 2024, at a total cost not to exceed $6,375.00 to be paid from account 1010-296.01-910-004, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the February 7, 2024 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board).
