BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) requests authorization to increase Genesee Group, Inc. Purchase Order (PO) #26-00298 by $26,000.00 for a total Not to Exceed $61,000.00 with a recommendation of approval by the full Genesee County Board of Commissioners at their next regularly scheduled meeting.
BACKGROUND:
GCCARD’s USDA Supplemental Food Program provides supplemental food to eligible seniors monthly through the Commodities Supplemental Food Program (CSFP) and emergency food to individuals and families facing a food crisis through The Emergency Food Assistance Program (TEFAP). The boxes for the food are purchased through local vendor Genesee Group, Inc.
DISCUSSION:
The USDA program is requesting an increase in Genesee Group PO #26-00298, previously approved in Document Review #26-335. This PO runs from October 1, 2025, to September 30, 2026. This approval will allow the USDA Supplemental Food Program to purchase additional boxes to meet the growing needs of the individuals and families we serve throughout our community.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
There will be no impact on Human Resources.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
Funds for this PO increase are budgeted and are to be allocated as follows: Fund #2759-697.30-752.000 increased by $8,320.00 and fund #2757-697.30-752.000 increased by $17,680.00 for a total PO Not to Exceed $61,000.00. No General Fund dollars are being requested.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
There will be no impact on Genesee County facilities.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
There will be no impact on Genesee County technology.
CONFORMITY TO COUNTY PRIORITIES:
This Purchase Order request conforms to Genesee County’s priority of Healthy, Livable and Safe Communities by promoting public health and ensuring that Genesee County residents are provided with healthy ingredients to create nutritious meals for themselves and their families.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD) to authorize an increase in the purchase order to Genesee Group, Inc., (#26-00298) by an additional $26,000.00 for FYE 26, for a new total purchase order not to exceed $61,000.00 to purchase boxes for the USDA Supplemental Food Program, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the July 15, 2026 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
