BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval to create, post and fill one (1) Health Educator position
BACKGROUND:
The Family Planning program is receiving additional funding for FY24 with the possibility of extending to additional fiscal years.
DISCUSSION:
Health Educators serve a critical role to the Health Department as professionals who specialize in developing and implementing strategies to improve the health of the community. Health Educators have versatile skills in health advocacy, health information delivery, and data analysis. These roles will allow for the continued focus on prevention of disease and illness, as well as building the overall health resource capacity of the Health Department. No Additional County Appropriation is required.
IMPACT ON HUMAN RESOURCES:
Human Resources will be needed throughout the entirety of the process to post and fill the position.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
This position will paid out of account 2210-611.01-702.000 and related fringe accounts.
IMPACT ON FACILITIES:
Logins will need to be created and devices will need to be programmed for the new staff member.
IMPACT ON TECHNOLOGY:
No impact on indirect costs.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Health Officer to authorize creating, posting, and filling one (1) Health Educator position in the Family Planning program, to be funded by 2210-611.01-702.000 and related fringe accounts, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the June 5, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board).
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that this Board directs the Director of Human Resources to have the necessary personnel position number created, as necessary, for said position and to commence the hiring process so that the position may be filled as soon as practicable, in accordance with County policy and applicable collective bargaining agreement.
