BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of a contract between Genesee County and Comcast for internet services
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County contracted with Comcast in 2022 to provide our primary internet connection and provide connectivity to core County sites. The proposed 60-month contract increases speeds and adds new fiber connections for the GC Tower, GCCARD Lippincott, and GC Parks Dewaters Educational Center. The new fiber will allow us to eliminate several older fiber circuits and coaxial cable modems, and along with the consolidation of buildings at the Tower will overall reduce our annual spend on internet connectivity. We have requested a budget amendment while the building consolidations are in progress as the savings are realized after that is complete in 2025.
DISCUSSION:
Information Technology requests the authorization for the County to enter into a contract with Comcast Business to provide fiber internet services for the locations listed. Comcast Business is a current vendor used by the County for internet services.

Total monthly cost of the new contract will be $11,580.00 to be paid from account 1010-228.01-801.007. A budget amendment is attached.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Deputy Chief Information Officer to authorize entering into an agreement between Genesee County and Comcast Cable Communications Management, LLC, whereby Comcast will provide fiber internet services at a rate of $11,580 per month for a 60-month term, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the January 22, 2025 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the agreement on behalf of Genesee County, and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
