BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The approval to accept the contract agreement for Enforcement Services between the County of Genesee, The Office of Genesee County Sheriff, and the Charter Township of Fenton.
BACKGROUND:
This agreement ensures that the Sheriff’s Office will provide police protection and enforce local township ordinances within the Township of Fenton's geographical area. This protection is as follows: Five (5) full-time police deputies and 60% of a detective sergeant are to provide patrol and investigative services as agreed upon by the Township and the Sheriff.
DISCUSSION:
This contract would be effective October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2027, in the amount of $807,277.98 per year.

None
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no impact on the general fund to cover the cost of this contract. Fenton Twp will pay $807,277.98 per year for the services provided, funded from Fund 2852. A budget amendment is included in a separate request.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to authorize entering into an Agreement for Enforcement Services between Genesee County and the Charter Township of Fenton, whereby the Office of Genesee County Sheriff will provide police protection services for the Township for the three-year term commencing October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2027, at a cost to Fenton Township of $807,277.98 each year to be paid into fund #2852, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the November 13, 2024 meeting of the Governmental Operations committee of this Board), and both the Sheriff and the Chairperson of this Board are authorized to execute the contract on behalf of Genesee County.
