BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
The Genesee County Specialty Courts, specifically Adult Felony Recovery Treatment Court (AFRTC), are requesting authorization to accept for a one-year grant from the State Court Administrative Office in the amount of $221,000.00. No match is required. The grant cycle begins October 1, 2024, and ends September 30, 2025. The funding was requested and allocated to assist with paying for staffing and activities for the grant’s purpose and execution.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County Adult Felony Recovery Treatment Court has been in operation for many years and is fully grant-funded through the State Court Administration Office (SCAO) via their Michigan Drug Court Grant Program funding. This funding is necessary for the success of the program and adherence to best practice guidelines to continue the program in the future to fidelity.
DISCUSSION:
The grant is utilized to continue current operations that support staffing and grant activity costs for the AFRTC program.

LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the 7th Circuit Court Specialty Courts Services Director to authorize accepting a grant from the State Court Administrative Office for the Genesee County Adult Felony Recovery Treatment Court, in the amount of $221,000.00 for the period commencing October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the October 16, 2024 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board), and the Chief Financial Officer is directed to record the attached budget amendment.
