RE: Approval of a one (1) year extension of the GFL contract that provides solid waste removal/disposal at various County facilities

BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Purchasing Department is requesting approval to extend a contract with GFL Environmental for one (1) additional year. GFL provides solid waste pick-up to approximately 39 areas throughout the County. The initial contract, that expired on 9/30/2024, provided the County with two (2) one-year extensions. The County has had conversation with GFL and have mutually agreed to a one-year extension that will extend said contract to September 30, 2025.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County Purchasing Department solicited bids for solid waste pick-up during the fiscal year 20/21. The County received three bids and after a review, the County selected GFL as the vendor to provide said services. Upon approval of this extension, the Purchasing Department will assist with the execution of the appropriate documents and the issuance of purchase orders to the effected departments.

Please see the attached spreadsheet for the accounts that will be charged. A budget amendment is included in a separate request for Funds 2080 and 2210. Purchasing is also requesting an additional 3% of the total amount be approved for additional services that may be requested during the fiscal year.

This will impact facilities that have dumpsters and or roll off compactors at their facilities.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Purchasing Administrator to authorize entering into a one (1) year contract extension for solid waste removal services between Genesee County and Green For Life (GFL) Environmental USA, Inc., in an amount not to exceed $83,300.36 for current services and 3% contingency of $2,499.01 for any additional services that may need to be added on for the period commencing October 1, 2024, through September 30, 2025, to be paid from various accounts as detailed in the supporting documents, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the October 16, 2024 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the contract extension on behalf of Genesee County.
