BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the reappointment of Dr. Beverly Brown to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority; the term of office is 10/1/2024 through 9/30/2028
BACKGROUND:
Former Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg previously served on the Land Bank Authority. Her term expired on September 30, 2024. She continued to serve until the end of her County Commissioner term of office.
DISCUSSION:
This Board has the authority to appoint members to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority. There is a current vacancy on that Authority that requires an appointment. Commissioner Brown has expressed an interest in serving and is being recommended by Chairman Loyd.

The Board of County Commissioners has prioritized Community Growth. In serving on various boards and commissions, the county is able to collaborate with other agencies to further that priority.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
WHEREAS, the Genesee County Board of County Commissioners (“this Board”) is authorized to appoint a member to the Genesee County Land Bank Authority (“Land Bank”) when an appointment term ends or a vacancy occurs; and
WHEREAS, former County Commissioner Ellen Ellenburg’s term expired on September 30, 2024, thereby creating a vacancy; and
WHEREAS, Commissioner Dr. Beverly Brown has expressed an interest in being appointed to the Land Bank for a four-year term.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that this Board hereby appoints Commissioner Dr. Beverly Brown to the Land Bank Authority for a four-year term expiring on September 30, 2028, having found that Commissioner Dr. Brown satisfies the requirements set by this Board’s Appointment Policy 01.002 and any relevant statutory authority.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the appointee is subject to removal by this Board pursuant to Appointment Policy 01.002, and any relevant statutory authority.
