BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Genesee County Parks and Recreation staff requests approval to accept a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) in the amount of $975,572.00 for continued work on the Flint River Restoration Project.
BACKGROUND:
This is year 3 of the multiyear award from NOAA. The original amount awarded was $415,752.00. Year 2 increased the total by $341,543.00 for a total of $757,295.00. Year 3 provides an increase of $975,572.00 for a total of $1,732,295.00.

Match from City of Flint escrow account.

This grant prioritizes Community Growth, creating a sense of place that retains and attracts visitors and residents with the goal of creating economic growth, and also prioritizes creating and providing safe facilities for both visitors and residents of Flint and Genesee County. The Flint River Restoration Project expands the role of the county, enhancing relationships and contributing to the growth of the community.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Parks and Recreation Director to authorize accepting a grant from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), in the amount of $975,572.00, to continue work associated with the Flint River Restoration Project, with match provided by City of Flint escrow funds, to be deposited into account 2088-797.01-801.028, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documentation being on file with the official records of the June 10, 2026 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chief Financial Officer is directed, as necessary, to amend the budget lines associated with this project.
