BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Approval of the purchase of extended warranty support for datacenter infrastructure.
BACKGROUND:
Genesee County contracts with the company Service Express for warranty support IT equipment that is no longer covered by the original manufacturer warranty. Our core datacenter infrastructure is now past its original 3-year warranty from when it was purchased. This purchase extends warranty coverage for hardware replacement for and adds it to the existing support agreement. In the event of a hardware component failing, they will deliver a replacement component by next business day.
DISCUSSION:
IT requests the approval to purchase extended warranty coverage for our servers and storage infrastructure that runs our core datacenter infrastructure. The addition of this hardware over the course of the 3 year contract moves it above the $30,000 threshold requiring Board approval. The original contract has been attached as well as this addition to it.

The cost of this purchase over 34 months will be $17,850 to be paid from account: 1010-228.01-801.004. For the remaining current fiscal year the cost will be $4,725.00

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Deputy Chief Information Officer to authorize entering into an agreement between Genesee County and Service Express LLC, whereby Service Express will provide extended warranty services for various IT equipment and/or hardware for a 34-month period, at a cost of $525.00 per month to be paid from account 1010-228.01-801.004, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request and supporting documents being on file with the official records of the February 19, 2025 meeting of the Finance Committee of this Board), and the Chairperson of this Board is authorized to execute the agreement, as necessary, on behalf of Genesee County.
