BOARD ACTION REQUESTED:
Reallocation of ARPA funding. The Sheriff is requesting to reallocate the funds for the ARPA-funded tether positions.
BACKGROUND:
There were three separate resolutions that established ARPA funding for tether: 2021-735 for a Sergeant, 2021-736 for two correction deputies, and 2021-737 for a police deputy.
These positions are fully funded by ARPA funds and are responsible for placing, release, and overseeing inmates who are on tether. The line item covering the Sergeant's position has been exhausted. There has been a need to fund a correction deputy and a sergeant. We are asking to combine the three different funding requests into one amount that can be used to fund either position.

Eliminate an ARPA funded deputy position.
IMPACT ON BUDGET:
There is no impact on the General Fund. The budget will remain the same. The resolution will just allow for the three resolutions to be combined into one funding approval.

TO THE HONORABLE CHAIRPERSON AND MEMBERS OF THE GENESEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS, GENESEE COUNTY, MICHIGAN
LADIES AND GENTLEMEN:
BE IT RESOLVED, by this Board of County Commissioners of Genesee County, Michigan, that the request by the Office of Genesee County Sheriff to authorize combining the funding requests and Board authorizations contained in Board Resolutions 2021-735, 2021-736, and 2021-737, said authorizations allocating American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) money to fund three jail positions related to placing, releasing, and overseeing inmates who are on tether, so that the total funding amount can be used to fund any of the three positions, is approved (a copy of the memorandum request being on file with the official records of the May 15, 2024 meeting of the Governmental Operations Committee of this Board).
